If you’re like me and need lists to help keep your life organized but you also use several computing platforms on a daily basis, your tasks can often be misplaced or spread across multiple devices. Personal computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones…where will the onslaught of digital device options end? Or, better yet, where will all my digital task-keeping chaos converge? Unfortunately, technology doesn’t always make life easier, much less organized. I do, however, feel much closer to achieving multi-platform, list-regulating bliss. 6Wunderkinder’s free task-managing app, Wunderlist, allows cloud-syncing for all your to-dos on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and the Web.

Other task management programs have been limiting due to platform restrictions, cost or just being too robust for their own good. Wunderlist is simple, yet elegant. I can type an important reminder into my Wunderlist Windows program on my office desktop, modify that same task on my Wunderlist Android mobile app and finally read the notification on my Wunderlist software at  home on my MacBook. My location and choice of viewing device is irrelevant. I can organize and update wherever I am. Oh, and I’ll say it again…all platform versions of Wunderlist are FREE!

How It Works

You can immediately enter items into specific Lists by typing into the “Add a new task” field. Uncategorized items are dropped into a general Inbox list. You can also create tasks while on the move by sending an email to me@wunderlist.com from the same email address you used when registering for Wunderlist account.

Sorting is easy as well. To change the order of your tasks, or even move them to other lists, just drag and drop. To call out or move a task to the top of that list, click the star icon next to the item. To create new lists, click on the blue “Add List” button at the bottom of the program. In the iOS and Android mobile versions of Wunderlist, simply tap the “Add a new list” field and start typing.

Features

Now the whole reason I use programs like these is because I often need help recalling all my important tasks and to-do’s. Wunderlist has me covered with various types of reminders and notifications. You can set date & time notifications for every task and also add notes to your specific items. On your iPhone or iPad, you can setup both email and push notification reminder times.

Generate a "wunderlist.st" URL to share w/friends.

Now if your project and task-keeping responsibilities extend beyond yourself and you’re in charge of lists for groups, Wunderlist can help you here as well. 6Wunderkinder’s task-managing app allows for many options when collaborating with friends, family and coworkers. By clicking the sharing button next to items you can individually send emails to others, even if they don’t have a Wunderlist account. You can also post lists to a unique “wunderlist.st” URL using the integrated CloudApp feature for you to share with anyone. Additionally, iPhone users can now share their tasks and lists via Facebook, SMS & email. And if you’re one of those people who still prefers to see and feel your agenda on a fibrous substance, you can print your tasks via the desktop and browser version of Wunderlist.

As the Berlin-based startup gets ready to celebrate its 1-year anniversary this August, 6Wunderkinder has already released its Wunderlist desktop app in 30 languages while its mobile apps are now available in 16 languages. This was necessary as they now have more than 850,000 users worldwide.

Sure there’s more robust task-management programs out there boasting web clipping, bar-code scanning and even sound-recording features. But that’s not what I need. All I want is a simple list-making, event-reminding app that will sync my tasks to the cloud making it available on all my devices.
